Third Interest: Enjoi Skateboarding Ads/ Company Design

Enjoi Skateboarding Ads/ Company Design

Enjoi is a skateboarding company that produces skateboard decks as the brand's primary product; the company also manufactures skateboarding accessories and clothing. The company, distributed by Dwindle Distribution, has, since inception, adopted a stylized panda as its logo.

History:

Enjoi is a skateboarding company that offers a line of professionally endorsed skateboard decks as their primary product. They also offer wheels, bearings, and clothing. The company was originally headed by professional skateboarder Marc Johnson, who eventually left for Chocolate Skateboards. After Johnson's departure, Matt Eversole took over as head of the company. They released their first video, Bag of Suck in 2006, which won TWS (Transworld Skateboarding) Video of the Year Award.

Advertisements:

Enjoi is the only skateboarding company that does not use ads of their skaters doing skateboarding tricks. Instead thay use witty ads that depict skateboarding in a non-skateboarding way. With the use of bright block colours and unusual but comedic imagery, Enjoi sell their company across in an interesting and original way. It's the design of the advertisements which interest me, as its very cut and paste but its unusual and different. The adverts incorporate a minimalist swiss design, using Helvetica as the fixed font.

Although the adverts may be seem to some as complete rubbish, I believe its this sort of attitude that Enjoi are going for. A kind of laid back, not that bothered method of selling their products. People know who enjoi are so why spend millions advertising when you can easily throw an advert together in a matter of seconds.

Here are some examples:

These selection of ad's I picked underneath show how enjoi play on the fact that not a lot of thought goes into their advertisements.
